Carthage and North Park Play to 2-2 Draw

CHICAGO, Ill. – The sixth-ranked North Park men's soccer team played to a 2-2 draw with Carthage on Wednesday night.

North Park earned an early corner kick just two minutes into the match. Hugo Neborg had the honors of lobbing the corner kick toward the Carthage goal, which went untouched until Tobias Lunde waited for the hop, knocked it down, and sent a shot just inside the right post for a third-minute goal.

Carthage responded with its first goal of the game in the 20th minute when Mickey Reilly broke free before a 25-yard shot snuck inside the right side of the goal.

HALFTIME: Tied at 1

The Vikings broke the tie in the 59th minute when Noel Holm maneuvered past three Firebird defenders before moving the ball to Lunde, who was just inside the box. Quickly finding Willy Wickman alone on the left side of the box, Lunde's pass led to the go-ahead goal.

However, Carthage scored in highlight fashion eight minutes later. The Firebirds started the scoring opportunity with a free kick from 45 yards out. Reilly tapped the ball to Omar Cordova, sending a 30-yard pass towards the NPU box. The pass found the head of Mason McCaw, who notched the neutralizer in the 67th minute.

FINAL: Carthage and North Park draw, 2-2
