CHICAGO, Ill. – The fifth-ranked North Park men's soccer team scored the only goal that mattered in a shutout victory over Illinois Wesleyan on Saturday night.
As both teams set up their offense, only two shots for each team were manufactured through the first 20 minutes of the game. The first shot on goal of the game happened to be the only score as Christian Vaaland sent a long pass up to Angel Barriga who cut back towards the middle of the field before finding Tobias Lunde. Lunde finished the play with a 20-yard strike, putting the Vikings up by a goal.
There would be no shortage of action, as the two teams totaled 31 shots (IWU 16, North Park 15) while the Vikings held a 6-2 shots-on-goal advantage. However, Lunde's goal would prove to be the only mark of the game as North Park shut out Illinois Wesleyan, 1-0.
