Box Score CHICAGO, Ill. – The North Park men's basketball team lost to Millikin University in a defensive battle by a score of 64-48 on Saturday night at NPU Gymnasium.
The Vikings came out of the gates slow, falling behind 17-2 after less than nine minutes of play. NPU would not stay down for long, as the Vikings mounted a furious comeback led by Michael Osborne. After the lead was whittled down to ten with 1:25 to go, Osborne would score the final five points of the half to send North Park into the locker room down just five.
Halftime: Millikin 28, North Park 23
Again, the Vikings would let the Big Blue get back a cushion to play with, but again, NPU responded with a fury. Millikin went up by seven until free throws from Karl Polk Jr. and Justen Kidd, plus buckets from Gabe Johnson and Jalen Boyd made the Viking deficit just one.
That would be as close as the hosts would get, though, as Millikin caught fire to eventually go up by 20 in the closing seconds of the game. The visitors would end up winning by 16.
Final: Millikin 64, North Park 48
