CHICAGO, Ill. -- The North Park University men's basketball team fell to the Carthage College Firebirds 77-64 on Wednesday night.
North Park took an early lead on layups by Gabe Johnson and Izaiah Sanders, followed by jumpers from Jordan Boyd and Michael Osborne. However, this 8-7 lead five minutes into the game would be the only advantage the Vikings would ever hold, as Carthage was red-hot on the floor.
In the 40 minutes of action, the Firebirds shot 32-of-56 (57.1%) from the field and 9-of-21 (42.9%) beyond the arc. Carthage's Kyle Kostes paced the offense with 24 points on 10-of-13 shooting, including three 3-pointers. For the Vikings, Jalen Boyd led the NPU scorers with 16 points, including a pair of threes.
Quick Hits:
- Three Vikings reached double-digit scoring totals:Â Jalen Boyd (16), Sanders (15, a season high), and Gabe Johnson (13)
- Jordan Boyd pulled down 11 rebounds and forced three turnovers via the steal
- 30 points in the pain for North Park, 36 for Carthage
