PLYMOUTH, Wis. – The North Park University men's volleyball team opened their 2022 season with a 3-1 win (29-27, 25-22, 23-25, 25-20) over Lakeland University on Friday afternoon.
The Muskies and Vikings fought for the first set win of the night, as the lead would change hands seven times in the long opener. Lakeland nearly earned the first-set win, totaling four-straight points to go up 24-23. However, kills by Emmanuel Eugene, Samuel Robinson, and a few Lakeland errors gave the Vikings a 29-27 win.
North Park played in its most consistent 25 points of the night in the next set, committing just four attacking errors to earn a 25-22 win.
That momentum would flip back to Lakeland in the third set, who totaled a match-best .222 attacking percentage with 11 kills, to steal a sweep away from North Park. 25-23.
However, the Vikings bounced back in the final set of the night with a 25-20 win, taking the season opener in four sets.

North Park (1-0) looks forward to its home opener next Tuesday, January 25, against Edgewood College. Tipoff at the NPU Gym is set for 7 p.m.
