RIVER FOREST, Ill. – The North Park women's soccer team came up short Sunday afternoon, going down in a 3-0 decision to the Stars of Dominican University on the road at West Campus Field.
Marta Hultgardh came out firing the first shot, forcing a save out of Stars keeper Ashley Ishman. Dominican responded with a flurry of their own shots eventually breaking through with a 19th minute goal. Eight minutes later, the Stars punctured the back of the net again to make it 2-0.
Just three minutes into the second half, the whistle blew against the Vikings inside the box, resulting in a penalty kick for Dominican, which they cashed in on. From there, the Stars denied any chance of a North Park comeback, saving shots from Clara Wernbo, Kajsa Mansson, and Abigail Balmaseda. Freshman goalie Campbell Hunt finished with seven saves for NPU
