WARRENVILLE, Ill. -- The North Park University cross country teams competed at the Gil Dodds Invitational on the campus of Wheaton College this past Saturday, led by a third-place finish from Patrycja Miazek.

Top Finishers

 Women:

  Pati Miazek - 3rd place (22:51.6)

  Anibel Palm - 128th place (28:16.9)

  Jackie Mendro - 153rd place (30:03.0)

 Men: 

  Sean Sanaghan - 93rd place (28:26.2)

  Brenner Klein - 126th place (29:01.7)

  Peter Swanberg - 179th (31:00.6)

Personal Records: In her first 6k since 2019, Jennifer Cuessi crushed her previous personal record by 1 minute and 41.8 seconds. In his first 8k since 2019, Christian Lamberty beat his previous personal record by 16 seconds. 

Highlights - In a very competitive field filled with both conference and regional competitors, Pati Miazek placed 3rd overall in the women's race while Sean Sanaghan placed 93rd overall in the men's race.

This was another very exciting and impressive showing for both our women's and men's teams. All 9 (including North Park) of the CCIW teams and some other teams we'll see at the NCAA Division 3 Regional meet in November were here so it was exciting to get a glimpse of where we stack up against some very tough CCIW and regional teams. Pati Miazek had another impressive showing - she ran with patience in the beginning and focused on moving up throughout the race until she found herself in the front pack and ended up with a 3rd place finish. As an entire team, we ran much smarter than two weeks ago and set ourselves up for a strong 2nd half of today's race. We have the next three weeks to focus solely on training and staying healthy before our next meet in Kenosha, WI.
