ELMHURST, Ill. – The North Park University baseball team split a road doubleheader with Elmhurst University this afternoon, taking game one 3-1 before falling in game two 5-2.
Game 1 Recap:
Bluejay starter Jaysn Miller and Viking starter Ethan Sund kept the offenses quiet through the first three innings before North Park broke through in the top of the fourth.
Senior shortstop Jake Reinhardt doubled to right field and advanced to third when senior catcher Ranko Stevanovic grounded out to second base. After senior third baseman Justin Woolbright was hit by a pitch, senior right fielder Brandon Davis smacked a two-out, two-run triple down the right-field line to put the Vikings up, 2-0.
North Park tacked on one more run in the seventh inning when Reinhardt's single plated senior center fielder Jared Cantu.
Sund dominated the Elmhurst offense through nine innings of work, allowing just five hits and one run en route to a complete game victory.

Game 2 Recap:
In the second game of the day, North Park got off to a good start by scratching a pair of runs in the second inning. With Woolbright and sophomore Jim Zay on base following a walk and single, respectively, freshman Conner Woods loaded the bases with a single through the left side. With two outs, Cantu slapped a single into center field to bring home Zay and Woolbright.
However, after not scoring for five innings, the Bluejays struck for a four-run sixth inning. Adding one more in the seventh inning, Elmhurst ran away with game two, 5-2.
