Chicago, Ill. – The North Park women's volleyball team came up short against Illinois Wesleyan University by a score of 3-0 (25-21, 25-20, 25-16) Wednesday evening at NPU Gymnasium.
In the first set, North Park fell behind 17-13, but kills from Brilynd Pence and Kate Widman, a block by Christina Gatta and Taylor Guy, and an ace from Pence had the Vikings all-even at 17. The Titans finished the first set strong, though, and took it by a score of 25-21. Widman got the second set started with two straight kills, and a Viking run that included a Jewel Schroeder kill had North Park up 6-2. Again, the Titans battled back and took the lead before a Taylor Guy kill drew the hosts within one point at 18-17. Wesleyan went on to win the set 25-20. The third set was another hot start for the Vikings as a Guy kill sent North Park ahead 9-3. Pence and Raghen Walker scored the final two Viking points before the Titans finished on a run to win 25-16 and take the match.
