Chicago, Ill. – The North Park men's volleyball team got back to their winning ways on Saturday afternoon with a 3-0 (25-16, 25-14, 25-20) victory over Millikin University at NPU Gymnasium. Armando Quinones was dynamite on the day with 15 kills for the Vikings.
It was the Quinones show in the first set as the sophomore outside hitter from San Juan, Puerto Rico had nine kills to only two attacking errors in the first set. With the Vikings at 21 points and closing in on a first set victory, Quinones scored the final four points for North Park to cement the set one win and a 1-0 lead.
Quinn Robinson grabbed a kill for the first point of the second set, a set that the Vikings never trailed. Late in the set, with the score 20-14, a kill by Erik Bullard sparked four straight points to propel North Park to the 25-14 set victory. Set point was captured by Ikenna Nkuku, it was also his first career kill as a Viking.
The third set was again controlled by North Park and saw playing time for plenty of the non-starters. Frank Mauigoa spiked one home to send the Vikings to match point, and again it was Nkuku that painted the back line to win the set and the match for North Park.
