It's also the 4th best individual performance at an NCAA regional championship in the past 26 years. Pati's 39th place finish put her just four spots short of earning NCAA All-Midwest Region honors and 14 spots short of qualifying for the NCAA National Championship meet in Louisville, Kentucky.
Sean Sanaghan's 82nd place finish is the best individual finish at an NCAA regional in at least 26 years (results were difficult to find past 1996).
Quote from Coach Alex Rosenau:
This was a very poetic finish for what has been one of the best seasons this program has had in quite some time. We've seen a lot of growth and progress throughout the season so ending with 8 of our 14 regional runners hitting life-time personal records is exceptional. I am especially proud of our seniors (Lucy Plunkett, Jennifer Cuessi, Peter Swanberg, and Jasy Lopez) for their hardwork and commitment to this program. Lucy and Peter were both able to end their collegiate cross country careers with lifetime personal records which is phenomenal. The fact that we can look back at years of our programs history and say that Pati and Sean's performances this past weekend now rank among the best in the past 26 years is thrilling. The future is bright for this program and we're excited to carry this momentum heading into track season!
