North Park Minces Moody Bible on Senior Night

Senior trio all with double digit digs, Pence with 18 kills

CHICAGO, Ill. – The North Park University women's volleyball team shellacked the Moody Bible Institute with a 3-0 (25-8, 25-11, 25-15) win on Friday night at NPU Gymnasium. Every healthy Viking made an appearance in the contest, but it was Katrina Bagcus-Bumanglag, Frankie Annunzio, and Brily Pence that led the domination on their senior night.

NPU had an 8-1 lead in the blink of an eye to start the first set. Another huge surge for the Vikings came later in the set when Annunzio was serving, and North Park got five straight points. Kharlie Simeona-French put the nail in the coffin with an ace on set-point to take it 25-8.

Setter Gillian Ridgley engineered the second set win for NPU, grabbing 12 assists. This time the biggest run of the set came with Bagcus-Bumanglag serving as she led the Vikings to seven straight points to finish the set as Pence grabbed the final kill to win it 25-11.

Head Coach Michael Sopocy continued to dig into his bench for the final set, allowing more of his deep roster to get on the floor. Bridget Feely and Mary Kate Giesen split the setting duties, while Lily Bullard brought a heavy spark to the squad when the Vikings scored five straight points with her doing the serving duties. Erin O'Hara and Raghen Walker were offensive weapons all night as they had four and six kills, respectively. Walker finished the match of with a kill to win the third set 25-15.

What's Next?

The Vikings (13-6, 1-3 CCIW) are back into conference play on Sunday, October 10th when they head to Kenosha to take on the Firebirds of Carthage College (13-9, 3-1 CCIW). That game will start at 4 PM at Tarble Arena.
