Nothing Spooky for North Park Volleyball, Vikings Pick Up Three Wins Over the Weekend

Collier, Pence, and Walker named to the all-tournament team

PELLA, Iowa – The North Park University women's volleyball team extended their winning streak to five matches following three wins in a tournament hosted by Central College (IA). The Vikings beat Iowa Wesleyan University and host Central College in straight sets on Friday before a five-set win over Illinois College on Saturday.

A variety of Vikings, including the team as a whole, posted season highs in the three-match tournament. That began with Raghen Walker's 14-kill performance against Iowa Wesleyan. In that same match, Gillian Ridgley totaled 14 assists and a block while Olivia Robertson had six kills and as many digs.

Next, against Central, Shamyia Collier drove 14 kills while Adriana Rodriguez also added a double-digit kills total with 11.  Teyia Alagar drove three of the five Viking service aces and 16 digs. In the win, North Park hit .306 as a team, including .407 in the final set of the night.

In the final match of the weekend, North Park tied a season high with 85 digs and 16 service aces. 10 of those aces came from Rodriguez. (6) and Kharlie Simeona-French (4). Up front, Christina Gatta, Walker, and Rhianna Huebner all totaled three blocks each. Finally, Gatta eclipsed 40 assists once more with 45 in the match.


What's Next?

North Park (19-10) looks to continue its winning streak in the opening round of the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) tournament this coming Tuesday, November 2. Tipoff at R.A. Faganel Hall is set for 7 p.m.
