Gatta Posts New Career High, Viking Volleyball Drops Pair of Matches

Gatta's 53 assists in the non-conference Carthage match is a new career best

KENOSHA, Wis. – The North Park University women's volleyball team dropped a pair of matches in a non-conference doubleheader on October 16. The Vikings fell in a close 3-2 match to host Carthage College before being swept by UW-Oshkosh.

Against Carthage, the Firebirds utilized a staggering 15 blocks and 11 service aces while holding North Par to a .188 hitting percentage. However, North Park gathered more kills that Carthage (62 to 49) as Taylor Guy (21) and Adriana Rodriguez (20) both turned in 20-kill performances. Additionally, Christina Gatta notched a career high 53 assists in the match, out-performing a 52-assist showing on September 17 at Hiram College.

Unfortunately, despite forcing a fifth set, North Park fell to Carthage, 3-2 (25-19, 18-25, 15-25, 26-24, 13-15).

In their next match against UW-Oshkosh, the Vikings were right back in the thick of things. North Park lost the first and second sets by just two points – 27-25 and 25-23, respectively – before the Titans ran away with the sweep on a 25-11 third-set win.

Rodriguez tied Titan Riley Kindt for the match lead with 13 kills while Gatta added a pair of aces.
