CHICAGO, Ill. -- The North Park University women's soccer team lost a close double overtime battle with North Central College on Saturday night.
The Vikings were coming off a string of games where they failed to score a goal, but a formation change from head coach Emma Woodley paid off early as North Park was able to secure two first-half goals. The first goal came courtesy of Kajsa Mansson, who slotted a shot into the bottom right corner off a cross from Clara Wernbo, to secure her first goal of the season.

Shortly thereafter, Agnes Bohlin pressured the North Central defense into fouling her, setting up a free kick from about 35 yards out. Bohlin punished the mistake with a lofted free kick that floated over the Cardinal keeper, giving the Vikings a 2-0 lead going into the half.

North Central made the necessary adjustments and came out firing in the second half. The Cardinals first got on the board thanks to Erin Jaskierski's goal in the 52nd minute. Without skipping a beat, North Central equalized on their next possession as Elle Sutter sent in her seventh goal of the season. A third goal—this time from Sarah Andrey—gave the Cardinals the lead after 15 minutes of play in the second half.
With time winding down, the Vikings made one final push for the equalizer and wound up forcing a corner kick with 30 seconds to go. Agnes Bohlin sent in the decisive corner kick, and after finding the head of Lina Bogg, the ball wound up right in striking distance of Clara Wernbo who sent the game to OT with 18 seconds of play remaining.

The first OT period was dominated by defense as neither team was able to get many good looks on goal. The story was not the same for the second OT as North Central's aggressive attack was capped off by Elle Sutter's second goal of the match—this time a golden one. Sutter's second score marked her eighth goal for the season, which is tied for first in the CCIW. The North Central Cardinals advance to 4-1-0 in CCIW play while the Vikings fell to 0-5-0.
