North Park University selects Alex Rosenau to lead Cross Country program

CHICAGO, Ill. – North Park University is excited to announce the hiring of Alex Rosenau as Head Cross Country/Assistant Track Coach. Rosenau arrives at North Park following successful collegiate coaching stints at Concordia University (WI) and Cardinal Stritch University.

"After a thorough and extensive search for our next Head Cross Country Coach, it became evident that Alex was the right person for North Park," said Director of Athletics, John Born. "Alex's expertise, his background within private liberal arts universities and his commitment to Christian higher education made for a perfect fit within our department. I am excited about the future of our Cross Country and Track programs under the leadership of Alex and Head Track Coach Bisrat Kidane. Great days are ahead!"

As the assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for Concordia's cross country and track & field programs, Rosenau coached the 2018 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) Cross Country Male Athlete of the Year as well as the men's and women's 2018 NACC Freshman of the Year. He also coached the men's cross country program to its best finish at the NACC Championships in seven years.

While at Cardinal Stritch as the Director of Cross Country and Track & Field, Rosenau coached the men's cross country program to its second-best performance at the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Championships in the past 11 years. He also increased the university's roster size by 180%, bringing in student-athletes from five different states and ten different countries.

As an athlete, Rosenau competed for the Concordia (WI) Falcons from 2013-15, while also running for the cross country program for four seasons. During the 2013 NACC Indoor Championships, Rosenau was a member of the fourth-place distance medley relay team.

"I am incredibly excited to be joining the cross country/track & field programs at North Park University," said Coach Rosenau. "I would like to thank Assistant Vice President for Athletics and Sport Management, John Born, Head Track and Field Coach, Bisrat Kidane, and the rest of the search committee for this opportunity as well as their guidance and support throughout this process. My wife, Nora, and I look forward to joining the North Park community and making this our home for years to come!"

Rosenau begins his service at North Park on April 1, 2020.
