Rhode Island steals lead late to top Vikings on Monday

Bartlett tossed 6.1 innings of shutout baseball in his first collegiate start on the mound

AUBURNDALE, Fla. – The North Park University baseball team fell to the Rhode Island College Anchormen, 3-1, on Monday afternoon.

The Vikings gripped on to a 1-0 lead on a run-scoring single off the bat of senior shortstop Jake Reinhardt; Reinhardt drove the ball into left-center field that got past the Rhode Island left fielder, allowing junior center fielder Jared Cantu to score from first base.

Before and after the lone run was scored, freshman left hander Bobby Bartlett twirled 6.1 innings of clean baseball, striking out five batters while allowing no runs.

Unfortunately, the Anchormen salvaged three runs in the eighth inning to grab a late 3-1 lead.

Despite a near home run to dead center off the bat of pinch hitter Richie Silva, the Vikings could not plate any more runs, falling 3-1.

FINAL: Rhode Island 3, North Park 1
