SAUGET, Ill. -- The North Park University baseball team picked up a 2-1 win against UW-Oshkosh before falling to No. 11 Webster on Saturday, February 29.
Game 1: North Park 2, UW-Oshkosh 1
Senior right-hander Matt Pizur set the tone right from the start. After the Titans loaded the bases, Pizur forced an infield fly and struck out a pair of batters to get himself out of a first-inning jam.
The Vikings put runs on the board in the second and third inning when senior designated hitter Nik Bell scored on a balk and senior shortstop Jake Reinhardt drove in sophomore catcher Nick Cecchi on an RBI single into right field.
Through the next four innings, Pizur was dominant; he allowed just three more baserunners, finishing the day with seven innings pitched, nine strikeouts, and four hits.
The Titans plated one run in the eighth inning on an infield error, but senior Justin Woolbright moved from third base to the mound to pick up the two-inning save as North Park earned their first win of the season, 2-1.

Game 2: No. 11 Webster 11, North Park 1
In the second game of the Vikings' trip to Sauget, the Gorloks took advantage of a seven-run seven-hit third inning to run away with the game. The nation's 11th-ranked team pounded out 10 hits while striking out 12 NPU batters to take the game early, 11-1.
