D3soccer.com All-Americans

CHICAGO, Ill. -- North Park University men's soccer junior midfielder Peder Olsen and sophomore defender Angel Barriga have been named D3soccer.com All-Americans, as the panel announced its selections on Wednesday morning. Olsen, who was also a D3soccer.com All-American in 2018, received First Team recognition while Barriga earned Second Team honors.

Olsen, one of just seven student-athletes to make a repeat appearance as an All-American, enjoyed a dominant third season with the Vikings. A native of Larvik, Noway, Olsen finished the 2019 season with 46 points and 19 goals, which ranked 10th- and 11th-best in all of Division III men's soccer, respectively.  Olsen became North Park's all-time points leader (96) in the final regular-season match of 2019 with an 84th-minute goal; he currently has 101 points through his three-year career. Prior to this announcement, Olsen added All-CCIW First Team, United Soccer Coaches (USC) Second Team All-American, USC First Team All-Central Region, and USC First Team Scholar All-American honors to his already impressive resume. 

A native of Bensenville, Ill., Barriga transplanted from an attacking forward to lockdown defender for the 2019 Vikings. Barriga helped lead a defense that was ranked second in the CCIW surrendering 0.96 goals per game while giving up just 22 goals on the season. Offensively, Barriga was second on the Vikings with eight assists and ripped 10 shots on goal. Prior to this announcement, Barriga added All-CCIW First Team and USC First Team All-Central Region honors for his successful second year with the Vikings.

This is the tenth year that D3soccer.com has recognized the top men's and women's players from across the nation. The All-Americans are chosen by a panel of D3soccer.com staff, Division III soccer coaches and sports information directors.
