CHICAGO, Ill. -- The No. 21 North Park University men's soccer team suffered its first loss of the season to the No. 3 University of Chicago Maroons at Stagg Field on Saturday.

The Vikings got off to a good start in the first 45 minutes. In the sixth minute, off an assist by junior Gianfranco DeCarne, freshman midfielder Niclas Holgersson marked his first goal of the season to put the Vikings up 1-0. The Maroons then countered with a goal of their own in the 23rd minute, deadlocking the match at one.

This score whole hold through the first 45 minutes of play, as the nationally-recognized teams were tied at one going into halftime.

Halftime: North Park 1, University of Chicago 1

Unfortunately, the next 45 minutes were all University of Chicago.  The Maroons marked goals in the 52nd minute and the 68th minute to take a 3-1 lead.

The Vikings were only able to muster two shots on goal through the entirety of the match, and only notched two shots in the second half, as they fell to the University of Chicago 3-1.

Final: North Park 1, University of Chicago 3
