HOLLAND, Mich. -- The North Park University men's soccer team shut out the Hope College Flying Dutchmen, 4-0, at Van Andel Soccer Stadium on Wednesday night.
Sophomore Patrick Knap opened the scoring in the 19th minute with his fourth goal of the season as the Vikings grabbed a 1-0 lead. North Park kept the scoring going in the 36th minute when sophomore Ulrik Lund sent in his first goal of the season to put the Vikings up by a pair of goals.
Through the first 45, North Park out-shot Hope 7-2 and held on to a two-goal lead.
Halftime: North Park 2, Hope 0
The Vikings came out of halftime and quickly grew their lead. In the 48th minute, off an assist by junior Gianfranco DeCarne, junior Peder Olsen marked his seventh goal of the season and grew the Vikings' lead to 3-0. Olsen tacked on another goal in the 62nd minute with his second goal of the match, and his CCIW- leading eighth goal of the season, as the Vikings held a commanding four-goal lead.
Goalkeeper Mathias Stulen saved four shots in the second half in his shutout win as the Vikings defeated the Flying Dutchmen, 4-0.
