North Park University names Bisrat Kidane Head Men's and Women's Track & Field Coach

Kidane will also serve as Assistant Cross Country Coach when he starts in January 2020

CHICAGO, Ill. – The North Park University Athletics department is excited to announce the hiring of Bisrat Kidane as Head Men's and Women's Track & Field Coach and Assistant Cross Country Coach.

"After a nationwide search, I am thrilled to welcome Bisrat Kidane to the North Park family," said Director of Athletics John Born. "Bisrat's extensive track and field background and tireless work ethic, combined with his commitment to Christian higher education, made for a perfect fit within our department. I am confident that under the leadership of Bisrat and Head Cross Country Coach Geoff Masanet the North Park Track & Field and Cross Country programs will reach new heights."

Kidane is familiar with the Chicago area, spending the past few seasons coaching at his alma mater, Judson University, located in Elgin, Illinois. While coaching for the Eagles, Kidane specialized in recruiting and also served as the Assistant Director of Admissions. Prior to Judson, Kidane was the Head Cross Country and Track & Field Coach at Eureka College.

Kidane graduated from Judson in 2013 with a degree in business administration, double majoring in marketing and management. He also earned his Master of Business Administration in strategic leadership from Olivet Nazarene University in 2016. A student-athlete at Judson, Kidane was named captain of the track & field team.

"I'd like to thank Assistant Vice President for Athletics and Sport Management, John Born, for this amazing opportunity," said Coach Bisrat. "Being a coach at the college level is a huge privilege and I am excited to be able to continue being a college coach at North Park University. I would also like to thank President Mary Surridge and Vice President Anthony Scola for this wonderful opportunity! Their desire for the continued success and growth of the North Park Track program was clear from our first conversations. Geoff Masanet and his staff have done an outstanding job of building and laying the foundation. I look forward to getting started and being part of this great program."

Kidane will take the reigns of the NPU Track & Field program beginning in January of 2020.
