CHICAGO, Ill. -- The North Park University men's basketball returned to College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin action on Wednesday night, falling by a score of 49-97.
North Park took a 16-11 lead early in the game thanks to a scoring run from junior forward Vegard Tangen, senior guard Cardell Simmons, and sophomore guard Antonia Gardner.
However Illinois Wesleyan, recently facing tough competition in #4 Whitman College and #12 UW-Stevens Point, bounced back quickly. The Titans utilized their stead attack of 3-pointers to capture a 44-30 lead heading into halftime.
In the first half, the Titans shot an impressive 5-10 beyond the arc, while carrying a 57.6 field goal percentage (19-33).
For the Vikings, Vegard Tangen led the offense with 8 points and 5 rebounds.
The second half did not bode well for the Vikings either.
Illinois Wesleyan shot 20-37 (54.1%) in the second half to outscore the Vikings 53-19 while also out-rebounding 45-23.
Final: Illinois Wesleyan 97, North Park 49
