CHICAGO –
In their season and home opener against the Anderson University Ravens, the North Park football team won 28-13, braving rainy conditions and nearly a two-hour halftime storm delay.
The Vikings wasted no time in their first drive of the game. Grant Borsch, tossing a 40-yard bomb, connected with Woodrow Corey to put the Vikings within striking distance at the Anderson 25. The duo would ultimately score on their first drive of the season, immediately taking a quick lead courtesy of a 14-yard pass from Borsch to Corey.

Neither team was able to mark the rest of the first quarter and the Vikings held a 6-0 lead going into the second quarter of play.
The Ravens offense, starting on the NPU 1 yard line in the second quarter, went to work on their first snap when they scored on a Johnny Ovalle rush.
After a completed PAT, the Vikings trailed 7-6.
However, North Park did not take long to answer as a 30-yard pass from Borsch to Woodrow Corey brought the Vikings to the Anderson 10 yard line. Following a short run, Borsch found senior Travis Dworzynski on a 7-yard pass to regain the lead 13-7.
The momentum would stay on North Park's side when junior Gary Anish picked off a pass on Anderson's first play of their new drive to bring the NPU offense back onto the field.Â
After a scoreless 3rd quarter, and a two-hour stoppage due to lightning storms, the Vikings would mark twice in the 4th on rushing touchdowns from Michael Soracco and Jeremiah Madden.
FINAL: North Park 28, Anderson 13
- Anish led the Viking defense with 11 tackles and a whopping 3 interceptions. Viking linebacker Uluao Letuli also had a standout game, totaling 15 tackles including a tackle for a loss.
