Vikings Fall to Millikin in CCIW Opener

DECATUR, Ill. -

After an early bye week, the North Park football team suffered their first loss of the season against College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin foe Millikin University.

The Big Blue (2-0, 1-0 CCIW) marked 20 first quarter points while holding the Vikings scoreless. In their first drive of the game, Millikin's Stepina would connect with Cooper as the Big Blue jumped out to a quick 7-0 lead. Millikin's next two scores arrived on a 1 yard touchdown pass and 79 yard rushing touchdown. North Park's David Simmons, Jr. blocked the would-be PAT as the Big Blue held a 20-0 lead after the first quarter of play.

The second quarter proved to be the best 15 minutes of play for the Vikings, as they outscored the Big Blue 14-7. Setting up their first scoring drive, Borsch found Malik Powell for a 19 yard pass completion and then Woodrow Corey the next play for the first Viking touchdown of the game.

Following another touchdown by the Big Blue, Borsch would find Brandon Vinson on a long 30 yard pass behind the Big Blue defense to mark their second touchdown of the day.

Unfortunately, the Big Blue responded with 14 points of their own in the third quarter and 7 more in the fourth to secure the win 48-27.
