CHICAGO, IL – Returning to action following their victory over East-West University, the Vikings hosted the Thunder of Wheaton College on Saturday night.
At each other's throats early in the game, North Park Vikings trailed 7-11.
After the Thunder widened their lead to 17-9, Colin Lake responded with a perfect trip to the charity stripe.
Unfortunately, the hot hands of the Thunder were not missing any shots as they widened their lead to 31-16.
However, Wheaton's scoring onslaught came to a brief halt and allowed North Park to bring themselves within 10.
Going into halftime; North Park 31, Wheaton 42.
Leading the way for the Vikings in the first half was Matt Szuba and Colin Lake. With 9 points each, Lake was a perfect 4-4 from the free throw line and Szuba was 3-4 beyond the arc.
Showing why he is the CCIW's scoring leader, Wheaton's Aston Francis had a standout game with 36 points from 7 threes.
The second half of play did not bode well for the Vikings as they were outscored 53-22 in the remaining 20 minutes of the game.
