ELMHURST, IL - The North Park University men's basketball team traveled to Elmhurst College on Wednesday night to take on the Bluejays.
Certainly not the start they were looking for, the Bluejays quickly went up 8-0 on the visiting Vikings.
However, a fastbreak layup by Vegard Tangen and a three-pointer by Jack Gurvey brought the Vikings within striking distance.
Unfortunately, the NPU offense could not get through the Bluejay defense and found themselves trailing 30-7 with eight minutes remaining in the half.
An and-one layup for Billy Kirby and layup by Jack Gurvey narrowed the score once more.
The Bluejays ran away with the game in the first half, outscoring the Vikings 45-27.
Colin Lake led the Vikings in the first half with 8 points including a pair of threes.
The second half had some bright spots; including ten points from Vegard Tangen.Â
Yet, the Vikings could not make up for the second half gap and fell 77-63 in Elmhurst.
