CHICAGO, Ill. --
The North Park men's basketball team opened their 2018-19 season with a 68-82 loss against the Lake Forest Foresters.
North Park held their lead for ten minutes of their first half of play. Newcomer Korvantae Davis knocked down back-to-back shots from the charity stripe and junior Vegard Tangen knocked down a close-range jumper near the elbow to control a 16-12 lead.
The Foresters were preparing a response of their own. Going on an 11-2 run, Lake Forest captured a 23-18 lead with 7 minutes to go in the first half. The Vikings were able to turn the tables on a three-pointer by sophomore Matt Szuba and a pair from sophomore Jake Ellis, taking their lead back at 27-26.
However, Lake Forest stifled the NPU attack as they stole a 39-32 lead at the half.
In the second half of play, Matt Szuba and Toby Marek knocked down a pair of threes, totaling 10 and 9 points, respectively.Â
Unfortunately, Lake Forest's Tashon Brown marked 12 points while Jordan Moran and Aram Arslanian teamed up for 11 rebounds total to outpace the Viking offense 43-36.
