CHICAGO, Ill. --
The North Park football team made some game-changing plays at home on Saturday, October 27th, but fell to the Carthage College Red Men 20-33.
Carthage would mark a touchdown in their first drive of the game, but the North Park offense would respond when sophomore quarterback Grant Borsch found Michael Soracco for a 5-yard touchdown pass. With the score tied up, kicker Alexis Santillan would complete a successful onside kick, recovered by Dacari Sibley, to gain control once more.
Taking advantage of this opportunity the proceeding drive, the Vikings would score on a 70-yard pass from freshman quarterback JDrew McGovern to Na'im Smith. With the score knotted up 14-14,
In the 3rd quarter, Carthage quarterback Billy Durry would find receiver Patrick Murphy for a 10-yard touchdown pass and kicker Lance Unland would split the uprights from 35 yards out to capture a 24-14 lead.
The 4th quarter would showcase one of the odder plays that football can offer. Following a 23-yard touchdown pass from Borsch to Malik Powell, the Vikings prepared for a PAT. However, the Red Men's Bobby Baker would block the PAT and Emmet Trost would return the blocked kick 98 yards for a rare 2-point defensive PAT.
Carthage would mark one more touchdown on a 16-yard rush by Lafayette McGary to put the game out of reach at 20-33 with just minutes remaining.
FINAL: Carthage 33, North Park 20
