On This Day, 2017: No. 24 North Park Blanks Wheaton

North Park fired 13 shots, with four different players recording two or more

WHEATON, Ill. -- The 24th-ranked North Park University men's soccer team marked its fourth shutout in the last five matches as they defeated host Wheaton College, 2-0, on Saturday night. 

Matias Warp notched the first goal of the match in the 26th minute, heading a corner kick from Gustav Ericsson into the back of the net for his fifth goal of the season. 

Not long after Warp's goal, Peder Olsen drove his sixth goal of the season in the 32nd minute.

The Vikings controlled the pace of play inside Joe Bean stadium for the entirety of the match, out-shooting the Thunder 13-5 in total shots and 8-2 in shots on goal. Additionally, North Park earned seven corner kicks while Wheaton had just three.

Quick Hits:

  • Carel Kawele and Erik Lundeen led NPU with three shots each while Matias Warp and Gustav Ericsson each marked two
  • Of the Vikings' 13 shots, seven came in the second half
