CHICAGO, IL - The North Park University Football team entered what appeared to be a tough day to play football. With rain through early parts of the morning and through pregame warmups, it seemed that there would be a damper on Senior Day festivities. However, the rain came to a halt just in time for the seventeen North Park seniors to be honored.
Fueled by the pure, organic energy created from the atmosphere of one thousand fans honoring the seniors, North Park did not waste any time on offense. Just three plays into the game, freshman quarterback Grant Borsch threw a 62-yard bomb to Norman Cupicciotti who took it to the house for what would be an early 7-0 lead.
Not to be outdone by the hot start from the offense, the NPU defense forced a three and out on the next Carroll drive.

Following a few long plays from what was looking like Carroll's first scoring drive of the game, junior cornerback David Simmons Jr. picked off a pass from Colton Bahling that resulted in a touchback for North Park. A few scoreless drives later, North Park was able to intercept another pass in the second quarter, this time by sophomore defensive back Dalton McKay. McKay took the misfired pass 47 yards the other way to give North Park a 16-0 lead. On their next drive, Carroll was only able to muster 15 yards as a result of a North Park penalty but found their slight momentum shift curtailed as senior Matt DiFecchio earned NPU its third interception of the game. Unfortunately, North Park lost possession via an interception of their own and Carroll looked to break the shutout. Can anyone guess what happened next? In just the second play of the drive, David Simmons intercepted yet another pass from Carroll (his second of the game) and returned it 76 yards all the way back for North Park's second pick-six of the game.
Topping off the first half, Matt DiFecchio grabbed one more pass from Carroll tallying his second and a team fifth in the half.
In his return to action, freshman quarterback Frank Mauigoa ran for 7 yards in the early minutes of the third quarter, earning North Park a 30-0 lead. Carroll was able to score on the next drive, but North Park's David Simmons made sure they could not score an easy PAT as he blocked and recovered the attempted kick.

Ending the scoring with a bang, quarterback Grant Borsch found Norman Cupicciotti for another long pass (68 yards), scrambling all the way to end zone. After a good PAT by Alexis Santillan North Park cruised to a 37-6 victory.
This win brings North Park to 3-6 on the year and 2-5 in conference. They travel to Kenosha on Saturday in their final game of the year against Carthage College.
