KENOSHA, WI - The North Park University Football team traveled to Kenosha, Wisconsin ready to finish their season on a winning note.
Starting the drive from their own 35, Carthage (7-3, 5-3) began their ground-based form of offense with five out of seven plays utilizing the run. Although North Park was able to force a Carthage punt, a costly roughing the kicker penalty allowed for a first down. A few plays later, a 29 yard pass from Carthage quarterback Bobby Suchecki marked the first and only score for either team in the first quarter.
Wasting no time on their first drive of the second quarter, Carthage executed another rush to the endzone for 18 yards to put them up 14-0.
Following one more touchdown by Carthage, the North Park offense responded when John Obasi Wilkinson recovered a fumble at the Carthage 21. On the very next play, freshman quarterback Grant Borsch found Norman Cupicciotti for a 21 yard pass, resulting in a North Park touchdown.
As the clock was winding down in the third quarter, senior Matt DiFecchio chased Carthage's Nick Candre down, and forced him to cough up the ball. DiFecchio was able to recover it in Carthage's end zone to narrow the score down to 12-21.
Unfortunately, North Park was not able to score the remainder of the game and lost 35-12.
North Park finishes the season with an overall record of 3-7 and a conference record of 2-6. They eagerly await the upcoming CCIW All Conference selections where a few qualified Vikings are expected to be honored.
