MSOC shuts out Augie 4-0

PICTURED: Carel Kawele Kuzona

Not even a windy heavy rainstorm could slow the Vikings' pace with visiting Augustana College Saturday afternoon.

The Vikes played through the elements with ease and earned a 4-0 shutout, their fourth-straight and ninth overall, in a CCIW match that was called in the 74th minute due to lightning.

NP out-shot Augie 18-2, including 11-0 on shots on goal and tallied a pair of goals in each half in earning their 10th win of the season.

Junior Carel Kawele Kuzona buried a pair of goals for Nos. 9 and 10 on the year and both came in the first half within seven minutes of each other. His first came in the 34th minute when he received a pass from Marrion Alvaro off the right wing and buried the shot in the bottom left corner of the goal and his second was off a pass from Shatil Khoury as Khoury hit him in stride for a shot also in the bottom left corner.

Sophomore Peder Nalum Olsen then put NP ahead 3-0 just out of halftime when Erik Lundeen found him on a cross from the right side. Khoury finished off the scoring in the 70th minute, four minutes before the match was called official, when he dribbled out of two defenders and fired a shot in the bottom right corner of the goal. Kuzona led the Vikes with five shots, all on goal, while Gustav Ericsson recorded four.

North Park (10-1, 5-0), which extended its streak of 10 or more victories in a season to 15 years, resumes action Wednesday night when it travels to Kenosha, Wisconsin for a 7 p.m. match with Carthage College.
