Vikes move to 2-0 in CCIW with 4-0 win

PICTURED: Matias Warp

The ever-changing weather conditions had little to no effect on North Park's performance Wednesday night as the Vikes earned their second-straight CCIW win, a 4-0 triumph over visiting Millikin University.

NP fired 24 total shots and found the back of the net twice in each half. Carel Kawele Kuzona extended his goal per game streak to four as he put away both of his goals in the second half.

Matias Warp scored what ended up being the game-winner in the 11th minute when he received a Marion Alvaro pass off the left side and buried a shot in on the bottom left corner of the goal. Gianfranco DeCarne then made it a 2-0 affair when he created a shot on a Kyle Robson pass in the 39th minute. At first, it looked as if DeCarne's shot was going to be saved by the keeper, but the wet conditions allowed DeCarne to pick up his third goal of the season.

Of NP's 24 shots, they recorded 15 in the first half and totaled 13 shots on frame. Kuzona's first goal came in the 63rd minute when he bent a shot in from 25 yards out unassisted. He finished off the scoring with his sixth goal of the season not even five minute later then when DeCarne found him for a shot five yards out on the left.

A total of 23 Vikings saw playing time in the match and nine recorded at least one shot. DeCarne finished with a team-high six. Takunda Jakachira led Millikin with three. The Big Blue suffered their second-straight setback.

North Park (6-2-1, 2-0) returns to action Saturday when it hosts Wheaton College for a 7:30 p.m. match.
