Vikings earn 6-0 win over Edgewood

NP records 24 shots, 12 on goal in victory

The Vikings bounced back in a big way Sunday after their first loss of the season and used 24 total shots for six goals in route to a 6-0 victory over host Edgewood College in non-conference action.

After taking a 1-0 lead in the 17th minute when Carel Kawele-Kuzona scored off an Emil Eriksson assist, the Vikings did the rest of their damage in the second half as they recorded 16 shots and put away four of their final five goals in a span of 38 minutes.

Gustav Leander put the Vikes ahead 2-0 just after halftime when he tallied a header off a free kick assist from Nikolay Ianev. Three minutes later Ianev put away quite possibly the most fashionable goal of the season yet when he bent in a corner kick from the right side. Another offering from Kawele-Kuzona on Gianfranco DeCarne assist then put the visitors ahead 4-0 in the 66th minute and Alen Hataric made it a 5-0 affair when he scored a Tinus Jonsson assist from 18 yards out. Luke Egeler finished off the scoring in the 88th minute with a shot from the right side.

Of North Park's 24 total shots, half were on goal and DeCarne recorded seven. Kawele-Kuzona added four and both Hataric and Eriksson each had two. Keepers Wesley Woodley and Drew Garnaut split time in the goal with each recording two saves apiece. Garrett Lee and Victor Lombardino led Edgewood with two shots each.

North Park (3-1) returns to action Wednesday when it travels to River Forest for a 4 p.m. match with Dominican University.
