Mitchell Jordan went 2 for 3 with a double, a home run and two RBI, but it wasn't enough as North Park dropped a doubleheader to host Augustana College by scores of 8-5 and 12-2 in Rock Island Saturday afternoon.
After Jordan's solo shot tied the score at 1-1 in the third inning, he later laced a run-scoring double in the eighth of Game 1 to knot the score at 5-5, but Augustana responded for three runs in the bottom half on back-to-back singles to send Viking starter Jason Meger to his third loss of the season.
Meger worked 7 1/3 innings. He yielded only two extra base hits and struck out one while walking one. James Pagni came on in relief and gave up one run on one hit.
Senior Ray Cekus was also strong offensively as he went 2 for 5 with a run scored and later connected for three hits in the second game with an RBI and a stolen base. Augustana connected for 11 hits and scored two runs in four different innings.
North Park (12-20, 4-10) looks to rebound tomorrow afternoon when it hosts Augustana for the final game of the series at 2 p.m.
