North Park shook off a sluggish start to improve to 9-1 with a 93-84 victory over visiting Manchester University Friday night in non-conference action.

The Vikes turned a four-point game at halftime into as much as a 12-point advantage in the second half as they earned their third-straight win and their fourth victory in the last five games.

Junior Jordan Robinson tallied a season-high 32 points and snared 11 rebounds for his fifth double-double of the season. Although he connected on only eight shots, he went a near perfect 13 of 15 from the free throw line. Senior Juwan Henry added 23 points and dished seven assists while Colin Lake finished with 10 points.

After falling behind by three early, North Park overcame the deficit and turned it into a 28-23 lead after 1 of 2 free throws from Robinson with 7:01 left. Manchester tied it at 37-37 just before halftime but NP took a 41-37 lead into the break when Cam Burnett hit a jumper as time expired.

Free throws from Robinson and Henry, coupled with a steal and a basket from T.J. Cobbs capped a quick 6-0 run to start the second half as the Vikes staked a 47-37 advantage, but Manchester didn't relent as it later trimmed the lead to 71-69 on a three-point play with four minutes left. North Park held off the rally though by scoring 19 of the game's next 30 points to pull ahead 90-80 on another pair of Robinson free throws.

Tyler Alexander led Manchester with 30 points on 13 of 18 shooting while Adrian Johnson added 15 points.

North Park (9-1) resumes CCIW play Wednesday when it hosts Carthage College for a 7 p.m. contest.
