Carthage earned its fourth-straight win after the Red Men turned a 10-point halftime deficit into 54-53 advantage after they used a 20-9 scoring run in the opening seven minutes of the second half. The Vikes did respond to move back in front at 59-54 after a back-to-back three-pointers from Robinson and Billy Kirby with 12:49 left, but Carthage tied it at 60-60 two minutes later and didn't relinquish the lead in the final 10:43.
The Red Men shot nearly 60 percent (55.2) in the second half and had 36 points in the paint. Mike Stevenson tallied a team-high 18 points and had 12 rebounds as the visitors improved to 9-3 overall and are now in a two-way tie for first place in the CCIW with Augustana College at 3-1.
Both Juwan Henry and Darius Brown each had 16 points for the Vikings, while T.J. Cobbs added 10 points. North Park minimized its turnovers (8), but the Red Men came up with 15 second chance points off 12 offensive rebounds.
North Park (9-2, 2-2) looks to rebound Saturday when it travels to Naperville for a 7 p.m. contest with North Central College.
