North Park's four-game winning streak came to an end Friday night as UW-Oshkosh pulled out a 2-1 victory before a raucous crowd at the Holmgren Athletic Complex.
Despite the loss North Park overcame a sluggish first half and out-shot the Titans 10-7 in the second half, which nearly sent the match to overtime. Junior Pedram Tahmi-Masoleh tallied his team-leading 12th goal of the season in the 85th minute off a scrummage play to the right of the goal mouth. Â Tahmi-Masoleh received a drop pass from Michal Walaszek and skipped a shot past the keeper in the bottom left on the goal.
Oshkosh seized momentum early on however as the Titans put away their first goal on a rebounded shot from Michael Dugan in the 28th minute. Five saves from Vikings' keeper Christopher Tomuta helped North Park keep things at a one-goal deficit at halftime, but Oshkosh was given a penalty kick in the 80th minute when Javier Simon was tackled in the box. Simon in turn put the shot in the bottom left corner of the goal in what ended up being the game-winning shot for the visitors.
Tahmi-Masoleh finished with three shots to lead the Vikings while both Ricky Pimentel, Kebba Sanyang and Gianfranco DeCarne each recorded two.
North Park (7-2) looks to rebound next week when it hosts UW-Whitewater for a 7 p.m. contest Thursday, Oct. 1.
