Men's Soccer defeats Aurora 2-0

Vikings earn fourth-straight victory, second consecutive shutout

A defensive-minded Vikings' squad played to their moniker Tuesday night as they earned a 2-0 shutout over visiting Aurora University in non-conference action.

With the victory NP extended its winning streak to a season-long four games as the hosts earned their second-straight shutout and their third in the last four games.

After an opening 30 minutes of seesaw battles, the Vikings finally broke through when junior midfielder Pedram Tahmi-Masoleh tallied his team-leading 11th goal of the season. Tahmi-Masoleh stole the ball from the Aurora offense, faked one way and buried a shot past the keeper in the bottom center of the net.

North Park out-shot the Spartans 11-3 in the first half and tallied seven total shots on goal in the match. Keeper Christopher Tomuta earned his fourth shutout of the season as he face nine shots and made four saves in improving his saves percentage to 86.1 on the season.

Junior Nikolay Ianev then added the final goal, his first career tally, in the 40th minute when he planted a shot in the left center of the goal from 10 yards out unassisted.

North Park (7-1) returns to action Friday when it hosts UW-Oshkosh for a 7 p.m. contest.
