It didn't take long for Pedram Tahmi-Masoleh to pick up right where he left off.
Absent for the last five matches of the season last year due to illness, North Park's top-goal scorer put away the lone tally in the Vikings' 1-0 win over host Benedictine University in the season opener for both squads Tuesday night.
Neither team could gain much of a momentum as was evident in the even total shots (12 apiece) and shots on goal (7 each). It wasn't until Tahmi-Masoleh's goal in the 88th minute that the Vikings could breathe a sigh of relief in the last two minutes.
Both goalkeepers were equally as impressive as NP keeper Chris Tomuta made four saves in 90 minutes of play while Steve Mack made five. Â Despite the warmer conditions, only one card was issued (yellow) to the Eagles three minutes into the second half. North Park went as many as seven deep into its bench as Nikolay Ianev, Nathaniel Paisley, Gianfranco DeCarne, Alen Hataric, Emil Eriksson, Kyle Robson and Tinus Jonsson all saw playing time.
North Park (1-0) returns to action Friday night when it hosts Edgewood College for a 7 p.m. contest.
