Men's Soccer upends Millikin 2-0

Sanyang, Tahmi-Masoleh tally goals for Vikings

Despite being out-shot 13-6 overall, North Park took advantage of two of its three shots on goal to earn a 2-0 win over host Millikin University Saturday afternoon to take sole possession of first place in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin.

The Vikings tallied single goals in each half and earned their fifth win in the last six matches while improving their overall record to 9-2 on the year.

Sophomore Kebba Sanyang buried his second goal of the year when he took a Gianfranco DeCarne offering and put it in the bottom left corner of the net just before halftime.

Millikin seemed to control the tempo offensively as it garnered five shots in the second half, but North Park withstood the pressure and was able to generate the offense it needed. Junior Pedram Tahmi-Masoleh, who was riding a 10-game goal streak coming into the match, extended his streak to 11 as he connected for his 14th goal of the season off a penalty kick in the 73rd minute.

Keeper Christopher Tomuta earned his ninth win of the season as he made four saves in his 10th complete game of the year. Both Tahmi-Masoleh and Sanyang led the Vikings with two shots.

North Park hosts North Central College Oct. 10 at 7:30 p.m.
