North Park's two-match winning streak came to an end Saturday night as North Central College stunned the Vikings with a 1-0 victory in College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin action.
Matt Koth's penalty kick goal in the 78th minute proved to be the game-winner for the visitors as North Central snapped a near season-long nine-match losing streak and earned its first CCIW win of the season.
The Vikings' offense came alive in the second half as they out-shot North Central 13-8, but the hosts just couldn't connect for the equalizer in the final 12 minutes. Kebba Sanyang led the Vikings with four shots, while both Carel Kawele Kuzona and Chase Lennartz each had three shots.
North Park (9-3, 1-1) looks to rebound Wednesday night when it resumes CCIW play with Illinois Wesleyan University at 7:30 p.m.
