Pedram Tahmi-Masoleh would be the first to tell you that it's not about how many goals he's scores, as long as the Vikings earn a victory.
Saturday's matchup with visiting Augustana College belonged to the senior mid striker as he scored all three goals in North Park's 3-0 triumph, but Tahmi-Masoleh was far more satisfied with the Vikings earning their 12th win of the season.
With his three tallies, the Stockholm, Sweden native brought his season total to 19 goals, which broke the single-season NPU record for goals scored in a season for men or women.
Along with teammates Diego Lashlee and Przemyslaw Zabielski, Tahmi-Masoleh was honored at a halftime ceremony for the seniors on Senior Day, recognizing the trio for the hard work and dedication they've given to the program over their careers.
Tahmi-Masoleh gave North Park a 1-0 lead when he put away what ended up being the game-winner in the eighth minute. He took a through ball from sophomore Jason Gonzalez and put the shot in the bottom right corner of the net. Just before halftime, Tahmi-Masoleh found the back of the goal again with 17 seconds remaining when he took a rebounded shot and buried it in the bottom left corner of the goal.
To its credit, Augustana kept pace with the Vikings offensively as it recorded 12 total shots, seven on goal, but Tahmi-Masoleh's offensive firepower proved to be too much for the visitors. He added his final tally and the game's final score on a penalty kick in the 74th minute. In all, North Park fired half of its 18 shots on goal with Tahmi-Masoleh recording seven total. Keeper Christopher Tomuta made seven saves and earned his eighth shutout of the season.
North Park (12-3-1, 3-1-1) returns to action Wednesday when it travels to Elmhurst College for a 7:30 p.m. contest.
