Pedram Tahmi-Masoleh is continuing to have a sophomore season to remember for North Park.
He added another chapter to it with a goal and an assist in leading the Vikings to a 2-0 victory over host Rose-Hulman Saturday afternoon in Terre Haute, Indiana.
That's all relative however to the season NP continues to produce. Winners of three of their last four matches, the Vikings recently moved up in the D3Soccer.com Top 25 national rankings to No. 18 after debuting at No. 24 in Week 2 of the season.
North Park came out strong against the Fighting Engineers, out-shooting RH 16-6 with a dominating 10-1 margin in the second half. After somewhat of a defensive battle through the first 30 minutes, the Vikings finally broke through with a goal in the 31st minute when freshman Marcus Ollton came off the bench to notch the second goal of his young career, a header off a pass from Tahmi-Masoleh that went in top center of the net.
To their credit, Rose-Hulman buckled down on defense despite the shot margin and made the Vikings work hard to earn their second goal. It finally materialized in the 76th minute when Tahmi-Masoleh scored off a Markus Fodstad pass on a shot from 12 yards out. For Tahmi-Masoleh it was his team-leading seventh goal of the season and his third in the last three games as all four of his shots came on goal.
Rose Hulman's offense generated a few chances, recording two shots on goal, but Vikings' keeper Wesley Woodley stopped both opportunities to hang on to the shutout, his third of the season.
North Park (7-1) returns to action Wednesday night when it hosts Robert Morris for a 7 p.m. contest.
