The North Park volleyball team ended its season at Barker Chevrolet Classic hosted by Illinois Wesleyan University Friday-Saturday in Bloomington.
After earning a solid 17-25, 25-18, 25-19, 22-25, 15-12 victory over MacMurray College to start the weekend, North Park ended up losing its final three matches to Concordia Wisconsin (1-3), Wisconsin Lutheran College (1-3) and Central College (0-3).
Led by a double-double of 21 kills and 31 digs from junior Monalisa Fasavalu , her 12th double-double of the season, the Vikings used a high-powered offense to befuddle MacMurray. After dropping a close first set, NP picked up straight-set wins before ultimately putting MC away in the fifth set after the Highlanders forced a deciding set with a close three-point victory in the fourth.
Five different Vikings, including Fasavalu, finished in double-figure digs led by 17 each from Sa'Vone Williams and Brittney Garcia. Freshman Darby Switzer added 11 to go along with 42 assists, and Karen Rosales finished with 10, the sixth time this season she's had 10 or more digs. Williams and Hayley Brake also added 11 kills each to lead the offense.
Brake earned all-tournament honors for the two-day, four match tournament as she averaged nearly nine kills per match (8.75) and nearly a .300 hitting percentage against WLC in the third match of the tourney.
North Park finishes the regular season with a 9-24 overall record and an 0-7 mark in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin.
