Vikings lose to Elmhurst 28-0

Elmhurst quarterback Joe Camiliere excited the Homecoming crowd Saturday at Langhorst Field as he led the Bluejay offense with over 300 yards of total offense in a 28-0 victory over the visiting Vikings.

Camiliere completed 17 of his 24 passes for 262 yards while rushing for an additional 45 on the ground. He threw for two of Elmhurst's TDs and ran for another as the Bluejays improved to 4-2 on the year and 3-0 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin.

North Park's offense meanwhile uncharacteristically struggled unfortunately as the Vikings amassed only 166 yards of total offense. Sophomore quarterback T.D. Conway was able to connect on 11 of his 33 passes, but threw for only 104 yards. Anthony Burton was his top target as he caught four passes for 78 yards.

The Vikings managed to reach the red zone twice in the second quarter, but were denied both times by the Elmhurst defense. Noah Moore had an opportunity to put NP on the scoreboard with a 29-yard field goal with 13:14 left in the period but it was blocked. North Park's second opportunity –where they reached the Elmhurst 18-yard line—just came up short as well unfortunately.

Drew Walkington led the Vikings' ground game with 18 carries for 65 yards. Defensively, Chaun Maiava had a breakout game as he collected 11 total tackles, including eight unassisted. Trevor Forker also had five unassisted tackles and Matt Leibforth recorded a sack for the Vikings.

North Park (0-6, 0-3) looks to rebound next week when it hosts Millikin University, a team it defeated 35-32 in Decatur last season, for Homecoming Saturday at 1 p.m.
