Box Score
Eight of North Park's nine shots Friday night at Carroll University were on goal as the Vikings rolled to a 2-0 victory in their season-opener over the host Pioneers in Wisconsin.
Despite not tallying his first goal of the season, junior defender
Fredrik Greiff fired four of those nine, all on goal. Senior
Jakob Aronsson scored what ended up being the game-winning goal for the Vikings in the fourth minute when he took a pass from
Mike Herbst and put a shot in on an off set piece on the right side. North Park out-shot Carroll in both halves to finish with a 9-6 shot advantage. The Pioneers did manage three shots on goal, but junior transfer keeper
Wesley Woodley made three key saves in preserving the shutout for the visitors.
North Park's second goal came in the 67th minute when
Jonas Pettersson tallied an unassisted shot. It was his second shot of the night and second on goal. Pettersson led the Vikings with 15 goals scored last season.
North Park (1-0) returns to action a week from tonight when it travels to Milwaukee, Wisconsin to take on the Milwaukee School of Engineering as part of weekend tournament.
