Vikings lose to Benedictine 71-54

Henry finishes with a game-high 26 points in defeat

Box Score

Benedictine used the hot hand of freshman guard Tahron Harvey to come away with a 71-54 victory over North Park in non-conference men's basketball action Tuesday night.

Despite only knocking down three shots, Harvey put up the majority of his points at the free throw line as he was nearly perfect, connecting on 14 of 16 shots to finish with 20 points. Michael Blaszcyzk added 15 points for the Eagles, who earned their fourth win of the season.

Freshman sensation Juwan Henry had another stellar performance for the Vikings as he recorded his fourth game of 20 or more points this season. He tallied 22 of his game-high 26 points in the first half in helping North Park overcome an early 21-12 deficit with a 19-9 scoring run. A three-pointer from Henry and a lay-up from sophomore Michael Hutchinson capped off the spurt and put NP in front 31-30. Two quick buckets from Blaszcyzk as well as a pair of free throws however put Benedictine ahead 37-36 at halftime.

North Park's shooting woes then came to haunt the hosts in the second half as they connected on only six total field goals. Benedictine took advantage with stifling defense and pushed their lead to as much as 12 points in final 1:34 before four free throws from Harvey and one from Blaszcyzk decided the final verdict.

Senior guard Aaron Weaver added nine points for North Park while both juniors Reggie McGee and Garrett Gatz had five points apiece.

North Park (2-5) returns to action Thursday night when it hosts the University of Chicago at 7 p.m.
