CHICAGO, IL (September 1, 2011) – The North Park men's soccer team opened the 2011 season with a solid 1-0 victory over host Aurora University in non-conference action Thursday afternoon.

North Park out-shot Aurora 17-6, including 10-3 in the first half. The Vikings wasted little time getting on the board as freshman Jonas Pettersson tallied his first collegiate goal in the 17th minute off an assist from senior Kris Grahn.

Junior Tim Ahlberg earned the win in goal as he played all 90 minutes and made one save. Both freshman Sigurd Pryser  and sophomore Effy Restrepo fired a game-high three shots each.

North Park (1-0) returns to action Sunday evening at 7 p.m. when it hosts NCAA power Dominican University, which comes in to the contest ranked seventh in the D3Soccer.com Top 25 preseason national poll.
